My friends and I have all agreed that, from now on, we will only give each other fair trade flowers. How come? Recently I wanted to surprise my friend with a bunch of flowers. Whilst browsing the florist’s, the shop assistant asked me if I would be interested in fair trade flowers. Fair trade flowers?! I didn’t know such a thing existed! But once the friendly assistant told me that flowers certified under the Flower Label Program (FLP) are produced with as little environmental impact as possible, whilst maintaining agreed social standards and without the use of child labour, I was pleasantly surprised – and my friend was doubly happy! Since then all my friends and family get a big bunch of fair flowers with a very sweet scent!
