When new houses are built which have the use over a garden, we could integrate a water container under the surface in which water can be collected. The water can be used by the residents to water the plants in the garden through the dryer periods.
We would need something like a “water epn” (energy standards), sustainable architecture and project developers with vision.

I wonder when this is getting more interesting. The price for water in Nothern Europe appears still too low, to foster such devices. I know cases where the buildings even have pumps to get rid of the high ground water and do not even collect water. They then have to buy it. We are crazy.
