Zelfo - biodegradable strong and plant based material for furniture, homeware, lighting and more!
The world uses objects. Most objects are produced from non-sustainable materials using non-sustainable production methods.
I vision a method of turning plant fibres (cellulose) into a mouldable form that, when dried may be as strong as steel.
The new material, called Zelfo, may be produced using vegetable oil, solar and wind power, there are no glues, resins or toxins in any form used during or after the process.
Zelfo is one step UP from recyclability as when you are finished with your strong chair, your light or your vase you can dispose of it in your kitchen waste and it will feed the next plants/food that are grown.

Please provide some more information about the raw - materials like vegetable oils, etc.. and their composition to produce the new material called Zeifo.

Zelfo is a patented process in the production of a mouldable material from cellulose.
Currently, the only commercial factory in the world (Zelfo Australia - www.zelfo.com.au / www.zelfoaustralia.com) uses the following materials:
Industrial Hemp - sourced and processed locally to production and available globally
Waste Paper - office waste paper is converted directly to Zelfo (for paper bins, lighting, homeware etc.) and is collected for special jobs. I.e. Zelfo's local Council provided shredded waste paper that would otherwise be recycled (energy intensive in comparison) for which we produced some bowls and lighting for use and display in the council building.
Vegetable oil - this is recycling kitchen waste that has been filtered and cleaned and is used to power the main machines. This includes a diesel generator and a burner/boiler system for drying room (our stage 1 plan towards a full solar system).
We also use water. Approximately 4% of the amount used in paper production. The water we use may be filtered and recyled as grey water.
Colourings - plant pigments only. No heavy metals or toxic colourings in any form.
Coatings - only eco-friendly lacquers and oils. Currently sourced from Livos in Germany.
We use NO other materials.
